Tenant Lawyer San Francisco

Non-profit Organizations and Other Resources

Education and access to information are the best protection for tenants.  There are a number of non-profits that provide legal counseling for tenants. The San Francisco Tenant’s Union and Housing Rights Committee provide walk in counseling hours to tenants. They can help you write or respond to a letter from your landlord or answer questions about your situation.

If you have been served an eviction lawsuit you need to get help right away. The Eviction Defense Collaborative provides assistance on a sliding scale basis. As does Legal Assistance to the Elderly. In fact, several of the legal organizations provide low-cost or pro bono assistance to tenants. Think your landlord is doing something illegal? Want a building inspector look at your apartment? These resources may be able to help or at least get you started.
